I'm Back!!! CUPCAKE!!!

I’m not an expert on all foods (you will never read a fish taco or fish anything blog of mine) but when it comes to cupcakes I do have an ear to the track. Or a phone call into my brother in law Al, who has traveled this great state and those neighboring it to find what he thinks is the best cupcake. Al’s only downfall in the cupcake offerings the tri state area has to offer is that he often plays by the bigger is better rule, which is not always the case. The cupcake we both agree on is a mid sized cup cake. My wife agrees as well, being no stranger to the cupcake herself she has sampled just about every cupcake NYC has to offer and claims to be the best at work parties over the years.

I believe the search stops for the best cup cake in one of my least favorite towns in the entire state. The name NUTLEY alone grates on me and the fact that they think they rule the state for pizza, good luck sifting through ALL of the bad pizza to find a good slice. If you want to find the best pizza in town read “Slice of New Jersey” due out in June. It’s a book indirectly about me (not really, but in a way it is) anyway I’ll get back to the book in a future post.

If you are looking for a moist cake that is stuffed with the best filling and frosted generously with the best icing I have ever tasted go no further then The Petite Café http://www.stuffedcupcakes.com/ in Nutley (yuk). Now I haven’t tried every cup cake in NJ but I do get around and this cupcake was love at first bite (I now hate myself). I could not believe how well that cake was put together. The one I had was like an old school Hostess Cupcake with the chocolate cake, chocolate icing and white swirl. I picked up a Lemon Bar one for my wife (regardless of how many times I tell her fruit in baked goods do not make them better for you) and she was blown away at how tasty it was. It makes the massive cup cake at Crumbs taste generic. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t bake on premises. Another good thing is that you can actually mail order or better yet join their “Cup Cake of the Month Club” (which I have not done, but if anyone wants details they can contact Al). This is a great gift for anyone who loves sweets; they are delivered to your door fresh every month. I will never eat a cupcake from anywhere again. That’s a promise!!

I give the Petite Café 5 HAMS!!!
